What We Leave Behind Us :Time to Reflect Love and Honour.
Remembering my estranged father: I wrote and posted a letter to you my father - addressed to the universe I told you I no longer blamed you for the colour of my skin Racism is not your fault but is - the reason we have never met. I thanked you and my estranged mother for my life, and told you that In searching for you I had found myself I promised I would make good use of this lifetime and hoped we’d meet - one day. Honouring the men in my life, and creatives in my life, of all creatives I haven’t met yet. My sisters I honour you - Michael my partner, Arike my friend, Aundre my brother, I honour you and your struggles - your love has reached me! My children and grands I honour you Because our mission is great our struggles are difficult Because our Vision is great our struggles are compassionate Because our compassion is great our outlook is beautiful Because our outlook is beautiful our hearts grow bigger Because our hearts are big we are sometimes perceived as weak Because we are sometimes perceived as weak our creativity is felt by others hearts Connections and love is therefore - what we leave We leave behind us Ebun Culwin 2020 |
